The SAPS Search and Rescue unit, Flying Squad, Windsorton SAPS and Emergency Ambulance Services were called out to a scene where a truck allegedly crashed into a bridge and ended up in the Vaal River close to Windsorton in the Northern Cape.
On Wednesday, 21 March 2018 at about 11:40, the triple trailor truck was transporting cattle when the accident occured. It took the team approximately two and a half hours to rescue the truck driver and his assistant from the wreck.
The ambulances transported the two victims to hospital in Kimberley.
Some of the cattle were submerged in the water and others were saved.
The police will be investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving. The investigation continues.
