Members from SAPS Kamesh followed up on information, yesterday, 19 April 2018, which led to the arrest of a 34-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on 19 April 2018 at about 11:45 in Cedar Street, Gamble, Uitenhage. The suspect will face charges of illegal possession of drugs, after 69 mandrax tablets, four packets of tik and cash, with a total value of R6 104-00 was found in his possession. Operations continued towards Cannon Street and Mooimeisie Street, Rosedale where two premises were searched and five mandrax tablets and 46 “bompies” dagga were seized. Unfortunately no arrests were executed as property was only found. The 34-year-old male suspect is due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police visibility will be enhanced in the Uitenhage Cluster and SAPS members will conduct random stop-and-search and intelligence-driven operations to effectively deal with crime generators to ensure that our communities are rid of illegal substances. The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll said: “We will continue with our actions to clamp down on drug outlets in the Uitenhage Cluster, as several serious cases stems from these drug posts”.
The South African Police Service call upon the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects involved in crime.
